“I want to own my own business!”

I always enjoy speaking with Homeschool dads and their sons. I can pick up a lot about a person in these conversations. I learn about their goals and their ability to meet those goals. Many times they will say, “My job is not where I want to be”, “I want to own my own business”, or “I want to start my own business”. I love the desire to work with your family on any business, but I quickly discover several things about those plans. First of all, they usually do not want to start their own business but are just complaining about their current work situation. Secondly, most of the time they cannot usually define the reason or the vision for starting the business. They have not actually sat down and made a plan for the business, but have dreamed about not having to continue working with they are at. When I hear someone say, “I want to do…” (anything), I tend to say in response, “If you wanted to do something, you would have already started it”. This may seem harsh but the reality is that most Homeschool families are unprepared to start their own business. My goal in this blog is to help families plan for their business life properly. I will share the must dos to prepare yourself and your family properly.
